Sims 3 freezes and crashes at 2:54 AM

Hi! I have been having trouble with sims 3, obviously. When my sim goes to bed, it freezes and crashes around 2:54AM no matter if i close the game or not. It always happens. I have master controller, I've tried resetting the town. I also have traffic, overwatch and errortrap. Someone help? The crash log analyzer says it's cc but i only have 1 and i checked if it's corrupted and it's not. I also have tried using the cpu changer mod thing but that didn't work. I've also cleared the cache and still nothing.

  • bethp18  What happens if you change Overwatch's Set Alarm Hour to something later than 3 in its settings?  This is when OW runs its usual resets in suburban worlds (i.e. not Bridgeport).  Let me know whether the crash happens at the same time, or near the new time you set, or not at all.

Please also let me know whether you get a crash if you run the game clock at speed 1 starting around 2:30.  The idea would be that maybe the game engine has too much to process at such a fast clip.

still crashes at 2:54. I did the speed 1 and it worked...for a few hours up until 5 am. Then it crashed.

  • bethp18  Then I would suggest taking this question to the NRaas site, if you're willing.  Install NRaas DebugEnabler, and at 2:50 am, click City Hall and select NRaas > DE > Dump Alarms.  This will create a scripterror file in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, and the file may show what's running that's been causing problems.

You can do this again just before 5 am if the crashes are now consistently around that time.  What you don't want to do is run this continuously, as the file will become too large to be easily read.  You can also try a few times, deleting the older files, if it's difficult to get the timing right.

Once you have the file(s) you want, create an account on the NRaas site and create a thread in Chatterbox, since you don't know the cause of the crashing.  You can drag and drop the entire scripterror with the alarms into the text box where you're writing your post (don't copy and paste, actually drag the file), and it'll upload.  Add any other scripterrors you got in the same play session.

I could try to read these files, and in fact I often know or can guess what they're saying.  But you'll probably get a better answer from the people at NRaas.

my save is broken, i cant get into it.

  • bethp18  Then load the backup.  Even if you never made one, the game keeps the data from the second-to-last time you saved.  Open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves, and you'll see a folder with your save name and another file with the same name and a .backup extension.  Rename the folder and delete the .backup, and it'll be available to load at the Main Menu.
