@alanmichael1 Please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), using the Intensive scanning method. Restart your computer before reinstalling the App.

Thanks for the advice, but I was too impatient and messed it up.
I contacted the support and to my big surprise the assistant immediately added new versions of ALL packs to my account except Katy Perry (but that pack suddenly reappeared 8 hours later, a sign that the problem had fixed itself).
So everything could be fine - but I lost all my store content. The new game doesn't recognize it, and I can neither download it afresh from my Store Purchase History (I get infinite login windows in the launcher) nor can I re-install the files from my computer (that results in an error notification).
I tried changing my password, de-activating the firewall, deleting browser cache etc.
Do you think there is hope or should I say good-bye to TS3?

@alanmichael1 I think it's worth seeing whether an EA community manager has any thoughts on the matter. (I flagged your post in case there's something I'm missing here.) In the interim, can you download your Store content into a clean user folder?
What about if you reinstall the game itself, removing the old registry entries? The newly-added content would have its own product codes, and maybe there's a conflict between those and your current install. If you'd prefer not to take chances with your current install, you can rename the Sims 3 folder that contains the game's program files, so the EA App doesn't see it, and reinstall the base game. For the registry entries, export that section of the registry, then delete the old entries before reinstalling, and you'll be able to restore the old ones if necessary.

Thank you for your help!
Here is what I tried without success:
- deleting the game and installing it again from the "new" copies on the EA app
- deleting the download folder
- clearing the cache of Edge & Chrome
- setting a new password without exclamation marks
- turning off my Norton firewall
This is what happens:
- The game itself with all packs seems to run fine.
- The previously installed store worlds couldn't be selected any more. Opening an old save in these worlds resulted in a black screen and a "severe loading error".
- If I try to download something from my store purchase history, the launcher opens and a "membership" login window pops up. This window never accepts my password.
- If I try to install store content from the old downloaded files on my computer, the process begins but fails at the end.
- It makes no difference if I install store content directly from the store or from the download dashboard within in game.
TBH the end of TS3 doesn't bother me too much, BUT I'm nevertheless scared that a hiccup of the EA app can destroy a 1000-€ game.
What if this happens to TS4? These technical problems are so difficult even to DESCRIBE, that there is no hope in the German customer service that barely speaks German.
