Sims 3 doesn't open anymore

I've bought sims 3 and supernatural on Steam.

At first I couldn't log in because it needed to be connected to my EA account. Thanks to EA help we've managed to do so and I've been able to play it for 1 evening. I closed off my (gaming!) laptop that night and when I wanted to play the next day, it didn't work. EA help had made me re-install it several times but eventually they couldn't help me either.

It runs until the 'select world' screen where nothing is responsive.

Please help ☹️

    @JadeAylaK  If you're using any apps that include an overlay, for example Discord, please disable them in the Task Manager before launching Sims 3.  Don't open Steam either, just launch Sims 3 directly from TS3W.exe, which by default would be installed here:

    Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

    If that doesn't help, try forcing the game to open in windowed mode.  Inside Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, open options.ini and set fullscreen to 0 (zero).  Once at the Main Menu, you can adjust the resolution to what you want.

    If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
