Sims 3 Dragon Valley - Installed, Updated, No Game?

Hi There,

I have just spent my night renewing my origin account, updating my Sims 3 and installing Dragon Valley. I've had the disc that I purchased from a retailer for a few years now, but back when I first purchased it I couldn't get it to work so gave up. I don't remember much about that; I had a mac anyway which is now irrelevant to my situation.

I have a PC, and due to video card incompatibility I can only play the base game and Late Night out of all my collection of expansion and stuff discs (I always avoid digital only purchases where possible). So I wanted to try and get some more content in there while I wait for a new graphics card. The two I have installed run fine though.

It says that my game is up to date, it installed the game from the disc, but now there is no evidence of anything dragony in the game... no neighbourhood, no objects, no outfits, nothing appears in my launcher in downloads or installed content relating to Dragon Valley.

Please help!

  • @Kunoichi89  Dragon Valley must be installed via the Sims 3 Store, not a disc.  I'm not sure how the discs originally worked, but everything now runs through the store.  If you haven't already, login to your store account, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click "Redeem a Code" to add the DV code to your account.  (Actually, if you have a 20-character code, use the "Register a Game" option; I'm not sure how long the original codes for worlds were, even if they're 16 characters now.)

For the store site, it's best to use Firefox or Internet Explorer; Chrome doesn't always work well with the store.  Once Dragon Valley is registered to your account, you can download through your purchase history, or directly through its product page.  Then you can install it through the Downloads tab in the launcher.

P.S.  If you'd like to address the video card issue, I'd be happy to help.  Just run a dxdiag and attach the results to a post here.

Thanks for your quick reply! I'll have a look at that link you suggested.

The video card issue is just that this computer was cheap (I bought it when my Mac died) and has a pretty basic card in it, one that is not compatible with a lot of the sims games.
They all have a list on the back of the cases and mine is not on those lists!

I'm getting a new one soon, so it's not really a problem, but thanks anyway!
