Sims 3 expansions stuck installing

Base game is installed only, and the rest are stuck at installing without an option to cancel, pause or restart.

Even after I restart EA app, it's the same, shows as installing. I've uninstalled base game, deleted install folder and tried again and again, not fixing the issue.

I didn't try yet to reinstall EA since I have sims 4 and most probably going to be removed along with the app, thought I'd check forums before I do that and have to redownload sims 4 with all its packs...

I searched around threads and the issue I find is expansions not showing in the sims 3 launcher which is not the same.

Any tips are very much appreciated.

EDIT 1: I figured it out, I downloaded the base game first, once done, I downloaded the packs, when the packs start downloading EA app will start downloading base game again, had to quickly cancel that particular download, once base game download is canceled all expansions got installed just fine.

I noticed I got 2 of copies of seasons, pets and future packs, both season packs got installed but not the pets or future.

Now remains the eternal problem of having to reinstall store items, Sims 3 is royal headache just to make it work...

EDIT 2: For the store items keeps uninstalling issue, just start the game directly using Sims3Launcher (located in > The Sims 3\Game\Bin).

Thank you

  • I am having same problem, cannot play The Sims 3 right now, all addons stuck on installing, and I am missing some add-ons I had before that were on my steam that were transferred to origin before the EA app.

@xXShinkoXx  For the packs that are stuck installing, try clearing the EA App's cache and restarting your computer.

If that doesn't help, uninstall the base game, clear the cache again, and try installing everything at once.

For the missing packs, you'll need to contact EA customer support and ask what happened to them.  You can take screenshots of your Steam game library showing your owned add-ons and upload them when you submit the help request.

Or you can try reinstalling Origin and downloading the content from there.

There's no need to uninstall the EA App; you can have both on your computer at the same time.  Some players can't view their packs in their game libraries, and if you're one of those affected, you won't be able to download from Origin.  But at the very least, you could also take a screenshot of each missing pack's product page showing you own it and submit those to customer support in addition to or instead of your Steam info.
