Sims 3 Game Won't Save After Exiting Build/Buy

Sims 3 Game Won't Save After Exiting Build/Buy

My Sims 3 has been having issues lately with saving. I have tried just about everything to solve this problem. Basically, when my sim is pregnant and I go into buy/build mode and purchase items such as crib, changing table, potty chair, etc. it never saves after. I have tried this in a new save where I save as rather than save and the issue is still occurring. When my sim is not pregnant, the game will save. It's confusing. I have also tried to take the sim and terminate their pregnancy and then build/buy but the issue is still there. I'm basically at a loss because all of my saves get stuck at the same point where they are finally about to add on to the family. I have all the famous NRAAS mods along with cmar pregnancy controller and the toddler napping mat. I had the more baby interactions mod however I removed it because I assumed this was what was causing the issue. I have deleted all the pregnancy mods and deleted the cache files after removing them and still had the same problem. I would be more than happy to link my mods folder if anyone would like to see if one of those is the problem. I have uninstalled, reinstalled on a different drive (thought it was from storage problems), let the game generate an entirely new sims 3 folder, let the game generate a new saves folder, took the pregnant sim and moved them into a new save from the bin, and have deleted any .bad files along with cache files. I also checked in the current household folder and most of the crashes cause the game files to still remain in this folder, which I deleted. I also have the smoothness patch and I have tried launching without that, that wasn't the issue either. Anyone willing to help me, please do I would greatly appreciate it.

  • @fldly9t3l1d9  One relatively common cause of issues saving is using the BuyDebug cheat.  It's fine to use it, but you'll need to disable it again (buydebug off) before saving.

If this isn't the problem, please run a simple test.  Start a new save in Sunset Valley, pick an already-existing sim or household to play with, and see whether you can save.  Then use MasterController to get the sim pregnant, or just do it the old-fashioned way; the point is to immediately trigger a pregnancy.  (The MC command is Pollinate, under Basic, or Partner Pollinate, under Intermediate, if they have a partner you want to use.  The latter requires the MC Cheats add-on.)  Keep trying to save every eight sim-hours or so, after using Build/Buy, and let me know if and when it fails relative to the length of the pregnancy.

NRaas mods should be fine, as should CMarNYC's pregnancy controller.  If you want to run the test with all of your existing content in place, that's fine, but if you have any trouble saving, try again with only NRaas mods and (optionally) the pregnancy controller.

I'd also be curious to know whether you could save your progress in one of your main saves after the baby is born.
