Sims 3 Installation offline

If you bought the game discs, then the internet is only required to update your game.

If you bought a pc/mac download then you must download it which requires the internet. If you bought the download from Origin then it will require Origin to download. If you bought the download from another internet site then it can be downloaded without origin but will still require the internet. Origin is the program used to download the games. Also if you register your game discs then you can download them using origin. Which is very handy if you ever misplace the game discs or the registration code. Origin is EA's way of making a gaming social network. Also buy downloading Origin you have access to all your registered or games purchased from origin.

Sorry, I somehow posted my reply twice so I this is me editing this post lol.

TS3 uses parts of Origin to update the game. You now have to create an Origin account but after that you can set it to play offline. I think EA is trying to have Origin a client much like Steam. I also like the disc versions but alasI feel physical distribution may go the way of leaded gas. Tombraider 2013 was download only from Steam. As the cloud develops I feel it may become a distrobution means. You don't play the games on line but if you have the digital download version it has to be activated by a server to play. You don't buy the game, you buy a license to use (play) the software (game). Bioshock was the first game to have SecuROM and that was disc based. Game distributors have been trying ways to curb piracy for some time. There has been no word about drm in Sims 4 (yet).

If you bought The Sims 3 base game after September 2012, Origin is a requirement (as roberta591 said above). There's nothing you can do about that and it does say so on the box.

I have almost no internet access. I need to be able to install the game offline. Is it possible?

Depends when you bought the game. With games bought after september 2012, you require an interent connection to activate your game.

It does say so on the box.

i have origin and all of that but why is origin asking me to download the game after i have put in my serial code. it doesnt just install, yet i have the disk with the game files. why would i download them. please tell me how this works
