Sims 3 is CRASHING! I don't care if I have to get a new driver or whatever, just please help!

  • What is your operating system?  My operating system is Windows 7.  Specifically Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
  • At what point does your game crash ? Any regularities ?  It crashes at different points, no regularities what-so-ever.
  • How long can you usually play ?  I wanna say maybe 10-15 minutes max on playing.
  • Which EP/SPs do you have installed ?  All expansions except Generations.  I own no stuff packs.  I also own the Monte Vista world DVD as well...
  • Are you using custom content and mods in your game ?  I am using custom content.  I'm not quite sure about Mods.
  • It's also good to include your DxDiag:

  • The game does recognize my video card, and that is the only change since the past two weeks - nothing new has been installed or downloaded game wise.

edit:: I have made also made a thread.

Please make your own thread and post the whole thing (split it up in multiple posts since it won't fit in one).

I am coming back because, I am experiencing problems still, even after doing a Factory Restore on the game following your guidelines.  What is it that I'm doing wrong yet?

  • Are you willing to try a third party tool ? There's a tool called crash log analyzer (just google).

It's not a magic tool that can stop the crashes but it can give an indication to where the error lies. Just copy the errors you get to the clipboard and post them here.

What I find odd about all of this, was, I updated my drivers and it seemed to work fine for a while but then it started glitching up again.  And now it says "Max memory has been used."  So, does that mean I have to buy more memory?  Because I have an expansion bay on my computer, I just need to know what to do.

The not found there irritates me. Maybe those drivers didn't install right ? Let me get back to you on that.

Also, yes your memory is almost entirely used up but since the game is a 32 bit application, you can't add any memory. It won't do you any good.

EDIT: Seems that's a non issue. Just means that the game might put your settings to high.

I would just get a better card for your computer.

Be aware that you only have a 300 W power supply so not all cards will work with your computer. Do some research before buying something.

Ok, then my next question is, do you think I could manually put it into my computer with no prior knowledge of how to put a graphics card into a computer, or, do you think I should pay someone to do it?

I can't answer you that question. I really depends how safe you feel trying something you haven't done before, if you have ever done anything on your computer or if this is a first.

I would look around the net for articles on how to do it and then decide if you feel confident to do it. I guess it also depends on your financial means.

If you have a friend that knows a lot about hardware, you could also ask them to assist.

Good Luck and I hope you get it running better soon.
