Sims 3 Island Paradise Game play problem

Question

I have Island Paradise installed and everything works fine, but when I attempted to move my family to a new town and choose the house for them too live in it gets stuck in the map view and the hud disappears and I cant do anything but end the task, any solutions to this problem?
