This has been happening on all worlds that I play on and on new families too.
Check if your graphic card is properly recognized by the game:

It recognizes my GPU this is what i get in the required field

Looks ok too.
Are you using custom content or mods ? Did you completely delete the user folder and let the game create a new one when you started fresh ?
