Sims 3 'launch in an external application' instead of installing to HD[Mac]

I recently bought, downloaded & installed TS3 & Pets through Origin. All was fine and dandy, functioning well, etcetera. Then yesterday I had to uninstall the game as was getting launcher errors and ...

But did you delete the game installers within Origin (look in preferences)? That is supposed to help you to be able to get back to the download option instead of just play.

Yup, 'fraid so. Twice, as if it'd help more the second time.

Edit: I should say, Pets has reverted to 'Download' rather than install; it's just the basegame that remains unchangingly at 'play'.

    OK, so Pets is cooperating but the base game isn't. Odd. I am out of ideas to be honest. If you have removed all the old files and it still will not restart downloading then I am not sure what else to suggest. You could try contacting EA customer services to see if they can access your account and take a look.
