Sims 3 launcher stuck in the background process

Yes! I did restarted the computer many times and already changed the compatibility of of EADesktop, Sims3Launcher and TS3W to run as an administrator. Haven't tried to move my Sims 3 folder, but I doubt it will change anything, since the launcher isn't located in that folder and it simply won't open even when I try doing it directly from game bin... I've been thinking of uninstalling the game and reinstalling, but I'm afraid to lose all my builds and Sims, not sure if they will appear if I just make a copy of the contents from Sims 3 folder...

kitylinda​  The launcher can absolutely fail to open because of something in the user folder.  It happens all the time.  Having said that, your dxdiag lists zero crashes of Sims 3 or its launcher and a number of errors from the EA App, so let's start there.  Please uninstall the App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), restart your computer again, download a fresh copy of the App installer, and run it (the installer itself) as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  You don't need to set the App to run as an admin, in fact please don't at this point.

Your dxdiag also shows that CC Magic is crashing, so please disable that for now.  You can start using it again once the game is working.

Finally, if you can, please clear more space on your system drive.  While 9 GB free probably wouldn't prevent the Sims 3 launcher from opening, it's going to cause system issues sooner or later.  And the size would be reduced further if you create new saves or backups of your current saves.

Any households or builds you've saved would be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Library.  Sim templates saved in CAS are in SavedSims.  You can back up these folders if you like, but uninstalling the game shouldn't delete them, not that you necessarily need to uninstall at this point.  The only exception is if you've installed Sims 3 into Documents > Electronic Arts, as in, the program files and user files are in the same location.  In that case, backup Library, SavedSims, and Saves, then uninstall the game and reinstall it elsewhere; the default C:\Program Files\EA Games is fine.

I did uninstalled EA app using the Revo Uninstaller as you suggested and excluded it's folder, but once I redownloaded the app there was a message saying it was  already installed and options to iniciate or repair, when I clicked "iniate EA app" it redirected to where the folder was supposed to be, so I clicked "repair" and installation begun, then I tried opening the game and it's still in the background processes... Don't know what to do anymore...

When  you suggested moving "the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop", do you mean the folder where my saves are or the other one in the bin where TS3W and the launcher are?

Update: after all the reinstallation process I mentioned in the previous post, I did moved out The Sims 3 from my documents folder and now the launcher is opening, so it was a problem in that folder?

I tried moving back some of my folders, such as saves and mods to this new one that appeared in it's place, but the game failed to start, so I deleted this new folder so another one would appear and launched the game. It did worked, but now apparently the game don't recognize my graphics card anymore. I do recall having to go through some process years ago to make the game recognize it back when I installed it in this computer, but I don't really remember it and since I didn't uninstalled the game thought it wouldn't have changed. Also, I have no idea how to get my saves back in this new folder without getting a black screen... I'll try launching the game without any downloads, mods, saves and such to see if it works and then moving back the folders...

kitylinda​  The mods are the first suspect here, so test those individually or in small batches.  Keep in mind that if you have NRaas Cupcake without also installing the Bakery set from the Sims 3 Store, that can cause a black screen.  So can having the NRaas MasterController Progression module without both the base MC and StoryProgression mods present.  Other than that, it can be a guessing game.

The unrecognized video card message is only supposed to show up once, unless you delete Options.ini, or the file refreshes.  That's why you saw the message again—a new user folder means a new copy of Options.  Even if you previously got your graphics card recognized, that would have been undone when you uninstalled or repaired the game.

Yeah I'll have to check the mods, even though I don't remember installing anything new lately and the game used to run pretty smooth... Also managed to make the game recognize the graphics card manually thanks to youtube tutorials, didn't made any changes in Options.ini, just in graphicscards and graphicsrules in this new The Sims 3 folder. I did clicked repair the game at some point in EA app, guess after making this changes, so the game finally launched and loaded, so did the files from my old saves!

Thank you SO MUCH for all your help until now! I guess moving the folder was the solution after all, now it's time to test the mods and spare some time to delete files. Have an amazing weekend and thank you once again!

kitylinda​  You're welcome, I'm glad it worked out.

As a point of clarification, Options.ini doesn't have anything to do with getting your graphics card recognized.  What it does is store the flag that you've already seen the unrecognized graphics card warning.  So if you remove this file or the folder it's in, or it refreshes, you see the warning again.  Your GPU would have been unrecognized the entire time (at least since you uninstalled the game); you just weren't hearing about it.
