I have done everything I can think of besides reinstalling every single sims game because that is a pain in the rear and shouldn't be necessary. I'm running windows 8. 1) I reinstalled Origin 2) I'...
It took it a long time (my internet speed is horrendous) but it finally finished the repair install. Unfortunately I am still getting the same launcher error.
I also did your suggestion of changing the folder name then trying to start it up after changing it back. Still not working.
Just now I changed the file to 'The Sims 3=' again and i'm re-downloading the base game....with a 4-5hr estimated wait time. Origin is currently downloading its new "The Sims 3" folder it into the Origin Games folder. My original copy of Sims 3 is in the Electronic Arts folder. I tried moving my original "The Sims 3" folder from Electronic Arts to the origin one but then origin would no longer recognize it.
Edit: It finished downloading and I think I've broken something. The launcher still won't open and now I can only play the base game or get an error message saying I need to update with the launcher. An error I had previously fixed. :manfrustrated:
You can easily run the game without the use of the launcher: it is perfectly possible. You should try it to see if you can play the game then.
The default install path for the game is C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims3\Game\Bin from where you will find a file: TS3.exe. If you cannot find the Electronics Art folder there, please consider carrying a search over your system.
Now that you have reached the TS3.exe file, simply run it. It will directly run the game without making use of the launcher that is causing you so much trouble. If however, you see that you cannot run the file, then you will be completed to get the game removedhttp://help.ea.com/en/article/manually-uninstalling-the-sims-3/and installed again.
Constantly updating drivers is a good way to Mess'up the whole system. ""Don't fixit with it if it ain't broken! My Opinion is no more important or right than yours.- Ask, and it shall be given you.
I have been opening my sims folder and running TS3W.exe. I can play the game, It’s just been bugging the heck out of me that I can’t get the launcher open because I want to use it and should be able to. I haven’t thanked you for all your help yet. Thank you for taking the time to help me find a solution. 😕mileyhappy:
I managed to fix whatever I broke by manually reinstalling the latest patch. I'm back to square 1.
