I have moved it from the bin to new games twice and it helps for a little while then it goes back to crashing.
I will try to disable memories even though I have no active sims and let you know how it goes.

How large is your savegame ?

    It's about 30.5MB. Is that a lot?

      Not really. Over 100 would be a lot

      How big is your traveldb.package file ? Maybe you could try moving that to the desktop. You'll loose a pics on made memories but I don't think that's a huge issue for you atm.
