Sims 3 Missing objects warning[Mac]

My two sims were at University and were going home for the semester well right after the loading screen finished and I was back in the original town I got the 'missing objects warning' message. My two sims were no were to be found, but nothing in the town seemed missing. I quit the game without saving then resetted origin and repaired the game as solutions, but they didn't work. I noticed that when the game launcher comes up none of my pack are highlighted except the base game, but its always been like that and worked fine. Also they already had went to university for a semester and came back with no issues previously. Is this like some sort of cache problem within corrupt save files, is it due to the launcher that hasn't recognized any of my packs, or is there something really buggy about the University pack?

  • @ig607  The launcher not recognizing your packs as installed is in fact not an issue, and it wouldn't account for the missing objects warning.  Do you have any custom content installed?  Someone else had the same issue and needed to remove some bad cc.

For the travel transition, there are ways to try to prevent it from breaking, as it did in your case, with or without mods.  The mod-related approach is more efficient, but not everyone wants to use them.  Without mods, the best you can do is try to relieve the stress on the game engine as much as possible.

    • Empty your sims' inventories as much as possible.  A few items is fine; a hundred is not.
    • Use "save as" to rename the save, then quit (without saving) immediately before you want to travel.
    • Load the game just to the Main Menu.  Turn off memories, the in-game shopping experience, and the hidden object interactive loading screens.
    • Lower all the graphics settings to the minimum.  (You can revert to your normal settings after the travel transition.)  Now quit the game again, without loading a save.
    • Delete the five cache files in your game folder in Documents: CASPartCache, compositorCache, scriptCache, simCompositorCache, and socialCache.
    • Empty out everything in FeaturedItems as well.
    • Sign into Origin and put it in offline mode.  Disconnect your computer from the internet—turn off wifi and/or pull the ethernet cord.
    • Now launch your game, load the save, and send your sims home right away, as soon as the game clock starts moving forward.

If that doesn't help, let me know whether you use custom content and whether you'd be interested in adding mods.

I was able to try this today and the message still came up. I don't have any custom content and I don't plan on downloading any.

  • @ig607  Try doing the same thing, except in a clean Sims 3 user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, and copy the save from the old folder to the new one.  (Saves are located in the Saves folder, unsurprisingly.)

If this doesn't work, I can test your save myself, if you want.  Just upload it to a free filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and either post the link here or send it to me via private message.  Please also let me know which packs you have installed.

    Hi!

I've tried your method and it worked! I had the same issue here, but I needed to travel back from future :D

First I've closed my game, unsaved (I made a save before traveling back), then, as you've written here, I've copied TS3 folder, deleted the original one, opened launcher from origin, made a new Saves folder, put old save in that folder and run the game.

It wasn't 100% perfect (still that warning window popped up) but the sim wasn't deleted :D

Thank you very much for your help!
