@ig607 Try doing the same thing, except in a clean Sims 3 user folder. Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, and copy the save from the old folder to the new one. (Saves are located in the Saves folder, unsurprisingly.)
If this doesn't work, I can test your save myself, if you want. Just upload it to a free filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and either post the link here or send it to me via private message. Please also let me know which packs you have installed.

I've tried your method and it worked! I had the same issue here, but I needed to travel back from future :D
First I've closed my game, unsaved (I made a save before traveling back), then, as you've written here, I've copied TS3 folder, deleted the original one, opened launcher from origin, made a new Saves folder, put old save in that folder and run the game.
It wasn't 100% perfect (still that warning window popped up) but the sim wasn't deleted :D
