sims 3 not launching

hi there!! i've recently gotten a new computer and i've been having an issue with my sims 3 game launching. i downloaded the sims 3 with origin and my issue is that whenever i try to open the game/launcher, it won't open and the EA app instantly opens (similarly to if i recently closed the game). i've looked up other posts on this forum and came to the conclusion that it probably has something to do with the fact that i have an intel 13th gen processor, but i have yet to find a working solution to this issue. if anyone has any answers or anything that could possibly help, please let me know! 🙂

@laurann365 Please repair the game: open the EA App game library, click Sims 3, and select Manage > Repair. Then use the Task Manager method described here:

This is the most inconvenient fix for the issue, but it's also the most reliable. And actually, try once without any workaround just to make sure this is an issue at all; if the game works, there's no need for any other workaround. If not, try the Task Manager method again. And let me know whether you get the same error, or something else, or no error at all.

@laurann365 Since you've confirmed you have a 13th-gen Intel processor, I've moved your post to the master thread for the game not starting on these CPUs. Please see the accepted solution on page one for workarounds.

If thoase don't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

thanks for the quick response! ive been trying multiple solutions throughout the day and none of them have seemed to work for me. here's the dxdiag that was requested!

@laurann365 Please manually install DirectX 9, as described here:

Given that your laptop has one of the mid-range CPUs, at least within the 13th-gen lineup, I'm actually not sure whether you'd need to apply an Alder Lake/Raptor Lake workaround. Please let me know either way.

thank you so much, doing that finally resolved the launcher issue!! i am seeming to be having one more issue when trying to launch the game though (lol). i'll attach a picture of my current issue as well if you're able to assist. thank you again by the way. 🙂

Master thread? I have a 13th gen and it won't launch. "There was an error during startup. Please see the Log for more details." I manually installed DirectX. Running Steam.

@Gnarlsburg Did you disable or uninstall any packs in Steam? If so, reinstall or reenable them and see whether the game launches. If not, let me know whether you see the same error or something else, or none at all.

with just the repair my game was able to launch and is seeming to work perfectly. thank you so much for all of your help, you're truly amazing!
