Sims 3 Origin update error

Can someone please help me? I was going to take my computer and my Sims 3 game to a computer tech if i couldn't figure it out. I have the Sims 3 game and I have an Acer Aspire E 15 that has windows 8.1. The game isn't downloading and I thought it was because I didn't have Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 but read online that this game will work on Windows 8.1. Here is my issue, when I  go to download the game I click install and Origin pops up saying update error " Your update could not be completed. Please download and install the latest version of Origin from https://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/Originsetup.exe"  Then I click to download it and it says system error and in the box it says "The program can't start because MSVCP.dll is. missing from your computer try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." And it just does the same thing over again. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? I just really want to play my Sims game.

  • @Simsgamer42  Origin doesn't work anymore in Windows and hasn't for over a year; you'll need to use the EA App instead.

The error you're getting refers to the 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes.  So please uninstall your current versions, if you have them, and install fresh copies.  Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on any version from 2015 or later, and select Uninstall.  Don't touch the older versions.  You can download the newest runtimes directly from Microsoft:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

It sounds like you're trying to install via disc, which may not work if the game isn't already registered to your EA account.  If it is in your game library, the simplest way to install is to download it from the EA App, skipping the disc entirely.
