Sims 3 patch, Jan 13, 2025: technical issues thread

Edit:  Since we now have two threads about this patch, one originally on this forum and one migrated from Answers HQ, I wanted one to convert to a general discussion thread and one to cover technical issues.  So this is now the tech-oriented thread.

EA released a very minor patch for Sims 3 today, only for the EA App version and Windows.  The new version number is 1.69.47.024017.

This patch fixes the Alder Lake issue, where the game wouldn't start correctly on certain newer, higher-end Intel processors.  It makes no other changes.

If you get the activation window, simply click Exit and launch the game again.  It should work this time around.

Ok, so the thing is, after updating MY GAME IS A MESS. First I thought it was because of the mods, then I removed them - and it turned from red to orange. That sux and there is NO WAY TO UNDO THAT

stelabaez  Please remove Options.ini from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and see whether the color goes away.  If not, try a new save.

If that doesn't help either, please clear the EA App's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repair the game (EA App > Sims 3 > Manage > Repair).  If you have any mods or other utilities installed into the game's program files, remove them first, and also remove any other files you've edited.  The repair will revert all your changes, and you can restore your edited files later, but please do test without anything added or changed.
