Sims 3 pc install

Hey, I have recently brought some sims 3 expansions and stuff packs along with the base game, but can't for the life of me install the base game. It downloads origin straight away, wouldn't let me log in saying I wasn't online, have Uninstalled and re installed a dozen times, updated to windows 10, installed ea desktop because someone said I needed it now I can't even install origin at all now says msvcp140.dll and vcruntime140.dll are missing. How the hell am I meant to install from disk this game someone help!!!

  • @crim1396  How old is the base game disc?  You can find the year at least by checking the copyright date in the fine print on the back of the case; the newer versions also have an Origin logo somewhere.  The point is, any disc manufactured after September 2012 requires Origin to be present and manage the install process, although you can avoid Origin with the older ones.

If you have a newer base game disc, then the only solution may be to find an older disc somewhere, one that won't require Origin.  Even if you bought a digital copy, you might not be able to install your packs without registering them.  Origin is kind of hit or miss on this point—some people manage to install packs that aren't registered to their accounts, while others can't or find that the packs won't load.  The same is true of the base game, but it sounds like you've already tried to install it and haven't been able to do so.

If your disc is older, then just uninstall Origin and try to install Sims 3 again.  When asked, decline the offer to let the EA Download Manager control your install, and you should be fine.

  • @crim1396  The easiest way to install Sims 3 is to register the product keys in Origin and then download the game, rather than installing via disc and waiting for Origin to patch.  But of course you can't do that unless Origin is working.

The .dll files you've listed are part of the 2015 VC++ runtimes, which Origin needs to install properly.  It's best to uninstall your current copies, if you have any, and then download new ones from Microsoft.  Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributables, click on both the x86 and x64 entries (if you have them), and select Uninstall.  You can download new copies here. Be sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions.

Restart your computer, and try to install Origin again.

Thank you for your help. I have managed to install origin, when I type in the serial code for the game it does not work. Probably because it is a second hand game, I'm not looking to play online or anything like that just want to install it is there anything I can do to make it work?

As soon as i put the disk in I click run, a screen comes up that says install, and goes straight to origin its like there's no other option. Is there??
