Sims 3 pets problem

Hi I just got the Sims 3 pets and I thought it is awesome.

When I found out that you can capture and keep other pets besides the cat, dog and horse I wanted to try it out.

I have trained my cat to hunt at the 10 level and It says that the cat has caught a bird, mouse ect. and you can find it in his inventory. I've checked both the cat's and human's inventory and even the family inventory yet their is not picture or any evidence that the cat has caught the animal. Is this a glitch? Or am I not looking in the right places? I checked the lessons and they say nothing about this.

If anyone can help I will be ever so thankful.
