Sims 3 pets where is my backed up content on my Macbook Pro?!!!!!

Everytime I have a serious issue with a computer, where it needs to be completely reset or wiped out, or I even have to buy another one, I haveto reinstall The Sims 3 and start life ALLLL over again....

Your save files should be stored in Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3 -> Saves

When you uninstall the game, please make sure to keep these save files.

Thank you so much for answering!! However, I checked my documents and found the folder "saves" but it's empty when I try to open it without having Sims3 opened.....is there supposed to be something in there when I open it, or does this mean that it's empty??
