Sims 3 plus supernatural serial code registration?

Question

Alright, so last night I bought the sims 3 plus supernatural, it's all well and good except the supernatural part of the bundle won't install because "the sims 3 isn't installed"
The game itself is installed, and I also can't register the code online.
It's basically acting like I only bought a used copy of the sims 3 and I'm kinda confused. So someone please help me?
