Sims 3 store content will not install

I did the last Sims 3 update August 30 and ever since then none of my store content will install. The update deleted all of my store stuff and now I can't reinstall it either. It downloads just fine, but when I try to install it from the launcher or while the game is in play it says it is installed but none of it shows up in the game and when I turn the game off it all disappears again. How do I solve this?

  • Try the following:

    • Close your game and launcher
    • Go to documents\electronicarts\thesims3 and move the folder DCCache to your desktop (this is ALL your custom content, so if you have 3rd party content as well, you might wanna just move the *.ebc files as well as the missingdeps.idx)
    • If you have any worlds installed go to the installedWorlds folder and delete all Store worlds from there.
    • Go to the DCBackup folder and delete everything in there. You don't really need the stuff in here except for the ccmerged file but since you're reinstalling everything, it will be recreated.
    • Open the launcher and start reinstalling all store stuff in groups. Don't install all in one go. Start with the worlds, then lots, then sets and single items last.

  • Hi, I am hoping that you will check this even though this post is very old. What do I do about the DCCache files after they are on my desktop and I re-launch my game (the last step in your instructions)? Do I put this back into the Sims 3 Folder? Thank you in advance for your help.
  • What do i do whit the dcc cache folder after i´ve done all this? does it stays in desktop?

  • Thank you so much Crin! Your solution work for most of my added content. I can finally play that world I've always wanted to try out.

  • Thank you, thank you, million times THANK YOU! I had the same problem after I had to replace my computer's mother board. None of my store items worked. After this fix my Sims 3 is running better than ever.

I did what you suggested and store content will not download. My game is up to date as far as I know. Third party CC will download but not my sims 3 store content. Help me please!

@ladykyera999  Please try moving the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Open the launcher to create a clean folder, then download one store item and see whether it installs.  If that works, you can install the rest of your store content in small batches, maybe six items at a time—the launcher doesn't handle large amounts of data very well.  Worlds should be downloaded and installed separately, not in a batch with anything else.

Once your store content is all set up, you can move your saves and anything else you want to keep to the new Sims 3 folder and pick up where you left off.

I did that didn't work. Had to delete and reinstall from the store. That worked.
