Sims 3 stuck on 'finalizing'

Question

I just bought the Sims 3 on Origin yesterday, and I put in my product codes for several expansion packs for the Sims 3 that i had on Steam. It says 'finalizing' for the expansion packs and it's been like that for almost 5 hours now. Whenever I try to open my game it loads for a few seconds then a notification pops up saying "unknown error occurred" and closes the game. On Origin, if I click play, it says it's still downloading. I have no clue what to do. I've logged out and back into Origin, restarted my computer, and uninstalled and redownloaded Origin. I'm also on a Mac if that has anything to do with this.&nbsp;

@BridgetSimmer&nbsp; Being on a Mac has everything to do with this.&nbsp; The unknown error is Mac-specific and has several causes, depending on your specs and which packs you have installed.&nbsp; So please list those packs, and whether you've uninstalled any of them while troubleshooting, as well as your specs, and I'll write out the workarounds you need to apply.&nbsp; Here's how to find your specs:

In the meantime, you can run the Origin reset tool for Macs to try to get rid of the "finalizing" message.&nbsp; It doesn't always work, but then again you don't need to run the game through Origin anyway.

Hi,&nbsp;I thought this would be a good thread to ask my question.I have Sims3- and also downloaded- season, university, 70s, 80s, 90s, high end loft and late night.On origin my sims game won't go past finalising. I have a feeling the university sims is the problem.I have tired opening just from my applications and it still won't open. I even deleted the university from my PC and it won't open- I press to open seasons but the university icon always appears and then it tells me unexpected error.&nbsp;

@AndiV24&nbsp; The issue isn't University, it's Late Night.&nbsp; Or at least, one of the issues is Late Night.&nbsp; You might need to uninstall the whole game and reinstall from scratch, but perhaps there's a shortcut.&nbsp; Reset Origin first:

Reinstall University Life, then run the Super Patch (digital download version) to manually patch the game, even if you've done so already.

Next, create an alias (icon) for Late Night in Applications &gt; The Sims 3, alongside the icons for the other packs:

If the only issue is that Late Night doesn't already have an alias, then this may be enough to get past the error.&nbsp; If this doesn't help though, please post the full specs of your Mac, as described here:
