Sims 3 Supernatural "supernatural issue" and other issues

I'll start out with my actual problem. My witch or fairy or any magical creature in my mac digital version of the Sims 3 Supernatural basically lacks power. In the game the player must either fly on her broomstick (makes me laugh) or drink an "essence of magic" elixer in order to "revamp" her witch/spell casting powers. So, I have done all of those things in excess and still have not earned even a tiny bit of magical "powers" in my "power bar". Does anyone have any ideas what I should do about this?

Here's another problem:

I used my points to purchase the collector thingy.. You know, that thing that allows you to find collectors items throughout your sims world. Well, it's no where to be found. When I go to map view it doesn't help me find a thing. I've exited the game without saving and tried it again, but each time the game pretends to put it in my inventory, cashes in my points even, but it's not there. WTF.

Problem # 3:

Where the hell are other items that I've purcahsed with my points? I mean, not the simolians, but points earned from granting wishes of my sim. Sometimes they disappear and I have to earn the points again to get them. It's annoying.

Okay... one more problem.

Sometimes I'll invite a sim over and they say they will be right there but then they never show up. I've made my sim wait by the front door for a long time in the sim world and no one ever comes. I've even "Forced visitor", but that doesn't work either.

ONE MORE: It seems that there are still many issues with this game. NOT TO MENTION that I'm unable to patch crap. I'm stuck with a version that is older. I had to force a major patch just to be able to play the game in the first place. I am prompted to download the newest patch but I'm always given an error.

Back drop:

Purchased a digital download from AMAZON. I was unable to originally play it because my sims 3 was not updated and it wouldn't update so I had to download a SUPER PATCH in order to get it to it's current level... 1.36 or something like that. Supernatural "works" now but I'm still unable to patch or download newest versions.

    Did you have power in the beginning and it's drowned now or did you never have any ? Are you playing on static needs ? Bars don't refill if you do.

    So it's not to be found in your Sims inventory ? It looks like a butterfly. You have to actually set it to which objects you want to see on the map before anything shows up.

    What other items exacly ? Are they there in the beginning and then vanish ?

    Do you see those Sims you visit around town ? Maybe they are stuck. Are you sure someone is home ? Sometimes you miss them, meaning they leave when you arrive there.

    And the error would be ?

    You can't really install SN without Patch 1.38 so are you sure you're not updated to that version ?

    First of all, thank you for attempting to help me.

    Since yesterday's post, my game will not even work.  I am given the following error once I click on the large play button.. "The game process could not be started."

    It was working "fine" yesterday. I saved my game and quit and went on with my life. But as of today, I'm given that error each time I try to play. I've restarted my computer and nothing has changed.

    In regards to the earlier issues. I was playing static. If I can get my game to work I'll not play in static mode and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

    My version of the game is interesting. I have a mac and a digital downloaded version of Sims 3 and Sims Supernatural. I think because of this my game has problems patching and updating. I attempted a "super patch (https://help.ea.com/article/problems-patching-the-sims-3) and that allowed me to play the Sims Supernatural for a long while with those issues I mentioned before. ( I didn't get the patch from that website however. The link on the website didn't work. I got it from someone else, meaning someone assisted me and gave me a downloaded version of the patch via this discussion format)

    However, my game version says something entirely. 15.0.135.018017

    Any ideas what that is? I've been prompted, yesterday, to download a patch. I'm not sure if I patched it or ignored it ( I was clicking quickly). Why fix something that isn't broken? But then maybe I did patch it and now it's broken.

    I'm not worried any more about the missing items... the fact that my game refuses to work bothers me quite a lot more. My fear is that I'll have to uninstall this game, lose data, reinstall, etc... Where I live at the moment has horrible internet service... I'll have to drive elsewhere (about 1 hour)  to perform the downloading of anything... any ideas what's going on now?
