SIms 3 ultra freeze
Hi my sims 3 works fine with mods and cc, but now that ive been making a sims series, I need nraas mastercontroller since it is a scifi and has many animations. But the thing is my sims cant run nraa...
It still crashes after i configured the video chip (steps) and cleared out my drive. I dont know if this is because the link you gave me says that its not configured if i cant find the 0x6819 text in the graphicscards.sgr file but I could. And i still did the steps and it just reset all my settings. So i guess ill have to undo them. And reset my presettings. And my driver was working fine a few months before, its not new to my game so I dont know what I should do now. Any ideas?
@glitterglich You should tag the person you want to respond (@ plus the user name) so I know you still need help. If you remove the mod does the game return to normal?
@roberta591So sorry, im new to this xD Anyway, when i delete the mod to the first family i said i had problems with, the game still crashes and lags. And my other family still crashes right before loading the town.
@glitterglich If you remove the mod and start a new game does it crash?
@roberta591 Well this is a new addition to my game. I opened a new world and it didnt crash but when I got to isla paradiso the entire world is grey, just grey land and blue water. I think this has something to do with me configuring the video card or whatever because now my game says it cant find it and now just looks weird. So new games arent affected by nraas, just the first game and maybe the second game, that could be why its not opening (though there could be something wrong with the custom content instead). Either way now I have three problems, so should I undo the changes i made to the sgr files to find my videocard again and start from there?
@glitterglich I would recommend undoing the changes to the sgr files. Get the game back to a stable state. Some changes (cc/mods) you make are saved to the save file. undo the changes and start a new game and see if the problem is still there.
@roberta591 Okay im undoing the text i replaced in the sgr files, but im having a hard time remembering what the original numbers were. So I dont know how to find what the original text was DX
@glitterglich Just look for the device id and the name of your video chip. (ie 0x0ed1 and Nvidia GTX 960 - what your card is) that should get you close to what you added.
@roberta591 Thanks, while I fix that I was just wondering something about the launcher. In the uploads section, if you delete a video or screenshot can you get it back because its not in the recycling bin and I was just wondering.
@glitterglich If you delete a file (video or screenshot) using the delete button in the upload tab of the launcher as you should that is a function of the program and not the operating system so I believe there is no moving of files to the recycle bin. There may be a way to get the file back but you would have to know how the file system works. You would need a disk edit utility to edit the file allocation table (fat) and I don't recommend a novice to use this kind of utility. There are free un delete programs that may work if the data is not over written. Recommend downloading a un delete program (google it - there are many free ones) and you don't how well they work until you try them. Solving issues like this is how you get beyond novice gamer. I use a utility call Bart PE ( a live dvd). You have to be careful using these powerful utilities as they can easily damage the operating system and make your system unbootable (been there - done that). Years ago I needed to a be able to sub net a network by hand for certification tests (and I was pretty good at it) - today I pull out my smart phone and use an app - what can I tell you it's faster. The point is it's nice to know how you got there.
short answer - maybe (if it hasn't been overwritten) but it may not be easy.
@glitterglich Sorry it took so long to answer but while upgrading my internet service several small problems suddenly became big problems and issues were popping up faster then I could fix them. I now have a stable system again (at least I think it's stable). Some cc/mods may cause issues that will continue into the save image. The only way I see to salvage that game is to reload previous save images until you find a save that works. Here is a link to recover a save image - recover saved game
Yes this seemed to work with my second game that crashed before opening. But my nraas game will get to the point the furthest save was and do the whole thing over again. So basically no matter what I do or how many times I reset, it will not run nraas efficiently without crashing. Glad to hear your computer is in stable condition (id like to say the same for myself xD)
@roberta591 Well nevermind, now my game crashes as soon as it opens. My troubleshooting isnt going well so far. Ive lost all my pictures and videos of my sims, trying to fix this thing and it just gets worse and worse. Do you know how I can fix it? My AMD software or whatever isnt connected to my driver so that may be the problem but i dont know how to hook it up right.
@glitterglich How much free space is on your system drive (c🙂? I'm guessing you never solved the original problem. There is software that can change the partitioning of the drive but I don't suggest a novice user to try this. You may cause the computer to become unbootable. There is also ways to move data around but again these are for advance users and should not be tried by a novice that does not understand the Windows operating system. These forums are to help users with their games and not advanced operating system issues. You should have a minimum 500Gb for the Windows operating system. You need to get your system drive fixed first or you will continue to have issues that will probably get worse until the operating system will not work.
You can fix it in several ways:
- re partition the system (c🙂 drive at allow more space
- use advance data storage techniques although this would probably be a temporary fix
- image the operating partition to a new drive - you will have the old drive as backup
- get a new drive and install the operating system from scratch - you will have the old drive as backup
To fix your computer and have enough space for the Windows operating system is for advanced users and not for novice users. There is usually a neighborhood wizard or a small (meaning not big box) repair store that could provide a individual consultation. At this point I feel your computer needs a hands on repair with a discussion on what is the best solution.
@roberta591I cleaned out my drive and have 56gb of space, im guessing you mean 50gb is required to run the windows operating system because i only have 150 gb of entire room on my c drive. And all the games I have on it are sims 3, thats all. So thats not the problem, it still crashes
@glitterglich If you were to understand how the windows operating system works you would know that 56Gb of free space is hardly enough space to run the Windows operating system. A casual Windows user would not think twice about this and just assume there is enough. Today there are algorithms to estimate how much free space is needed and how to react when things get tight. As the windows operating system is very dynamic and the environment changes in microseconds the amount of needed free space on the system storage device is a very arbitrary figure. Rule of thumb is best educated guess plus 40% and you may be in the ball park. Let's just take one action - downloading a 1.2Gb game patch. The download begins with a temp file that will close after 1.2Gb has been downloaded. That temp file will then be copied to its final destination and the temp file may (or may not) be deleted. That means you need at least 2.4Gb of storage space to conclude this single action. This is just one solitary action and there may be many other similar actions happening at the same time. Windows may be doing a malicious software scan in the background. Your game may be creating a temp file as you travel in your game. Buffers may be expanding or contracting as files are moved and/or copied. TS3 is a 32 bit application and as such will not use more then 2GB of main memory (regardless of how much memory your computer has) because of the compilers/assemblers used. This means that after 2Gbs parts of the application will be spooled out to the system hard drive space to be paged in or out as needed. This is just an over view as the operating system environment is extremely complex. IMO 56Gb of free space is too small and at the very least require continuous maintenance when increasing the size of the system partition would probably eliminate any problems.
@roberta591 Well, Ive been using windows and modifying sims games for 5 years, I have never been unable to fix my sims game until now. I have given up. My computer came with 100gb of space on the c drive. I have halfway filled it with sims, theres nothing i can do to make more room. So if my computer is unable to run a game because there isnt enough space then I dont know what to do. I need a solution that will make my game stop crashing as soon as it opens.
@glitterglich BTW I do have a background in computer operating systems. I never went to college for computer science (but my son did). They only had a course call introduction to data processing and I learned on punch cards. Then I discovered a person named James Gordon Letwin and I was able to purchase the source code for HDOS (which Mr. Letwin had a big hand in) and I patterned much of what I did from what I learned from his style. HDOS had a rom that relocated in high memory (kind of like the bios does), HDOS had device drivers (like MSDOS maybe), HDOS had a jump table in low memory (like a boot loader), HDOS was out before PCDOS. I wonder who Mr. Letwin went to work for after Heathkit? Then my next project was making Ward Christenson's cbbs run on as many different computers as possible. That right the forum style bulletin board system started right here in Chicago during the winter blizzard of 1978. I feel I learned from the best of the best.
@glitterglich Your c: drive is part of a 2Tb hard drive. There is a way to repartition the c: and make it larger. I don't recommend novice computer users trying this as this is very powerful software and there is no oops. I recommend imaging the drive to a new storage device so if you mess up you can always go back to the original drive. I use software called Partition Magic only because I've had it for - let's just some time. I image drives with software called DriveImage only because I already have purchased it. There is other software available today but I can't recommend any. This is why I don't recommend this for novice users. Using these type of programs can (and does at times) destroy your data that is why I recommend great caution. I have destroyed more then one hard drive in my time and oops is not a word I like to use. Oops is usually followed by ah s*#t - which is followed by many hours of re installing a lot of software you didn't need to. Your computer is fixable - I just don't advise trying it on your primary drive without the knowledge you may have to start from scratch - better to make a backup and try changes on the backup and destroy the backup. You can always put the old drive back in and your back to where you started and you haven't lost anything and you learned what your not supposed to do. Some time ago back when the world was flat I was talking to this personal person about a position and was asked to send in a resume. I said no problem but when I powered up my Dec Writer (what a piece of - never mind) and it said boot error. First I had to recreate the 5 1/4 inch boot diskette. I then booted and found my data diskette was also destroyed so I had to re enter my resume from memory. 8 hours later (5:00 in the morning) I was printing out my resume. I didn't get the job. The point I'm trying to make is you computer CAN be "fixed" - it's just I feel you should leave it to someone that is experienced or at least have the neighborhood wizard there to help you.
@glitterglich My gaming computer is an upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro with a 1Tb WD black drive and runs TS3 without issues. I don't know why ASUS chooses to build laptops like that. The problem is your operating system and not the game. All you need to do is have the 2Tb drive repartitioned. I encourage you to talk to someone (preferably a professional).
@roberta591 Well I tried repairing the game again and it does open now, but my family is now crashing every few minutes. And I want that to stop so do you know any other ways of how I could resolve that, besides making more space on my drive.
@glitterglich If you start a new game does the game play? Once a save game has problems usually the only way to save it is to roll back the saves until it plays.
@roberta591Yes it does, it actually crashed while opening C.A.S
@glitterglich Usually if the game starts but crashes in CAS that is usually (but not always) caused by bad user data. Try the reset to factory - link - reset to factory If the game works after you reset then the game itself is ok and the user data has issues.
@roberta591 Yep, just tried that and it stil crashes 30 seconds in. Same with the launcher.
