Sims 3 "Unable to connect to the EA download manager" when attempting to update.

I've had the sims 3 for a while now, since it first came out. I had bought no expansion packs or anything really, and then today i decide to buy the sims 3 seasons! so, i buy it off amazon (online version that i had to download Origin for), wait 4 hours for it to actually download and then, it finally said for me to install it completely! so as i do so, it comes up saying i need to update my Sims 3 version. I go to the sims 3, and it says "unable to connect to the EA download manager" every time i click on 'game updates' on the sims 3 launcher. i've researched this issue and found others with my same problem, i've tried so many different things, but each thing i would try would not work out. Weither it wanted me to cut things out of folders, or anything like that, i wouldnt have the files to begin with?! and when i try to download the new version myself from the website, it wouldnt allow me! i'm stuck, i dont know what to do. i've uninstalled the sims 3 and reinstalled it, and nothing has changed like someone advised me to. :mansad: any help would be lovely, thank you
