Sims 3 won't launch. help plz been like this for yrs.

I have been having the issue since like 2023-2024  where sims 3's launcher refuse to open i have tried repair to reinstalling the game as well as the DX but no avail same results my netframework is checked too but still nothing..
I can't even get as far as the launcher.

Also it's the version from the EA APP
It's been confusing me for quite some time even without mods still a problem.
Windows 10 is being used.

  • QuasarMay  In theory, you would pause OneDrive syncing and try to move the folder again.  But the Sims 3 errors are related to .NET Framework 3.5, so the next step here would be to uninstall and reinstall it.

Click Windows key-R, enter appwiz.cpl in the run box, click "Turn Windows features on or off," and you'll see the .NET entries near the top.  Click the filled-in box next to .NET 3.5 to uninstall it, and restart your computer.  Repeat the process, clicking the now-empty box to reinstall, and restart again.  If .NET 3.5 isn't installed, simply install it and restart.

The other relevant errors in the dxdiag are from the EA App, so if the above doesn't help, uninstall the App and reinstall it.

  • QuasarMay  If you haven't already, please remove or rename the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts.  Let me know if you can't move or rename it, or you do move it but it reappears.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I have tried both renaming and moving the Sims 3 Folder i was unable to do either since it thinks the file is already in use when it's not.

Thank u soo much it works so does sims medieval again THANK You i been trying to figure this out for years!!!!!

Also one more thing that's unrelated i always had trouble from getting the sims 3 pets world working properly if u know anything for that that would be a great help.

    THANKUU!

  • QuasarMay  I'm glad to hear everything's working, and that I inadvertently fixed Sims Medieval too.

For the world issue, what happens when you try to play Appaloosa Plains?  Or is it not showing up as an option at all?  If the latter, do you have the rest of the content from the EP in your game?

It always has an habbit of freezing and crashing hence why i was barely able to play in the world which is more or less the problem with it.

and also looking for anything that can help performance for weather considering snow seem to lag alot.
(and also been seeing another problems with cars not despawning on the road with sims still inside of them)

Also to update it also fixed one other thing for me discord as well since last year discord around the same month suddenly stopped you helped inadvertently fix that as well (something clicked in my mind feeling the problem was related to framework) since i was stuck using the browser version at the time u have my thanks i mean it.

  • QuasarMay  Appaloosa Plains tends to run reasonably well on powerful-enough computers, and yours certainly is powerful enough.  But there is one issue that tends to emerge with mods that push some kind of story progression: the mod may give different jobs to pregnant sims.

AP has a few pregnant sims when it first loads, and their part-time jobs are fine, since those jobs don't require a uniform, meaning the sims can wear their normal maternity-enabled clothing to work if the game doesn't give them time off.  But a full-time job's uniform is probably not valid for maternity, so when a pregnant sim tries to spin into it before work, the game can lag or freeze or even crash.  And NRaas StoryProgression, and perhaps some other SP-type mods, will try to reassign sims to jobs that align with their lifetime wishes.

There are several ways around this.  You can decide not to use a story progression mod for a few sim-days, until these sims give birth.  You can use another mod (e.g. NRaas MasterController) to grant pregnant sims a few days off work.  Or you can tell SP, or the other mod you use if it has the option, not to change anyone's job for a couple days, or at least not the jobs of the pregnant sims.

Point is, this should be fixable.  I'm currently playing in AP and have no significant issues, although horses and deer do drag performance down a bit when they're on-screen.  But on my system, that means an fps of around 75 at a 2560x1440 resolution, on ultra settings, so it's far from unplayable.

As for snow, it's certainly demanding, but not too much for your hardware.  Is it equally bad in every world, and how bad is it?  Have you manually limited your in-game framerates, and confirmed that this limit is holding while you play?

For snow it seem to be crashing alot more often so far.

    and aighty.

Limiting Frame Rates i am not sure how to do that actually.

  • I guess we can pick up in your new thread, since you created it and it's not the same issue as the one covered here.
