Sims children enrolled in boarding school appear back at home

I am having a problem with my Sims children.  They are enrolled in boarding school and go away to boarding school.  Then they appear back home. I have tried to take them out of school and there is no way to do that.  I cannot send them to school.  I don't know how to get them back to boarding school or why they appear at home. 

I tried to reset them and it tells me it is an unknow command.
