Sims Won't Do Anything

First things first, I searched The Sims 3 forums for this problem and only found one person with the particular issue I have and no one ever answered her...that was 3yrs ago.

On that note, here's the situation: I have a family of 4 (2 adults, a teen and a dog). For some reason and completely inexplicably, they stopped taking care of themselves. I have to do everything for them. Free will is to the max, too. It's not always easy controlling that many Sims so I'm sure you understand my distress on the matter.

I've tried resetsim (individually and for the whole fam) and I've looked for a .bad file (which there was none). I've tried evicting them from their house and moving them in somewhere else. No dice. I even tried making a copy of them and using them. Again, didn't work. I really don't know what to do about this. I really like this family and I've worked really hard with them, I would hate to have to trash them. Anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated, thank you.

(I posted this to The Sims 3 forum and still have yet to get a response from anyone. Thought I'd try my luck here.)

Then it's probably just that family/savegame.

If you're fine with starting fresh, could you please accept a solution, otherwise let me know if you want further help.

  • Hi 🙂

Did you try disabling free will, saving the game under a new name, restart it, then enabling it again and do yet another restart of the game ?

Thanks for the advice but I'm afraid it didn't work either. Guess it's some kind of glitch that can't be fixed by conventional means. Oh well. Apparently I am going to have to ditch this family. Appreciate the help, though.😕mileyhappy:

So it's just that one family that doesn't work ? It's fine when you start a new game ?

It would seem so. I created a new Sim and stopped controlling her and she does things on her own just fine.

  • Go to the options menu at the bottom left corner of your screen.

Click on "Save As" and save your current household as a new game.

Now go back to your options menu

    Click on "Main Menu"

Once at the main menu you will see that you now have two saves. Delete your old game.

Select your most recent save and click the check mark.

Doing this should return your game to normal.

    Happy Simming 🙂

  • I Seem to have sims not taking care of them selves now and again and not taking care of their pets, or toddlers, The things I  find helps sometimes either moving house , rebuilding the one their in, or playing with another household for a while, then going back to play with the one I was having issue with, but I find it a bit annoying and wish it did not keep happening.
