Try if you can change it in windowed mode.
I tried and it did the same thing.
Ok. then let's try the manual method.
- Close the game
- Go to this file: Documents\electronicarts\thesims3\options(.ini)
- Open the file with a text editor
- Find the line for the screen resolutions and change it to what you want
- save the file
- Start the game.
I tried this for my game and I changed the resolution to1366x768 (what it suggested) and now it won't come up at all. the launcher won't even come up. What now?

What is text editor? People talk on these like everyone is a computer programmer. Can people go back to the basics and instead of saying WHERE to go just tell us how to get there.
@rjaffeux If you double click a text file Windows should open the file in Notepad (notepad is a Windows built in graphical text editor). A text editor is like when you are composing an email. Before graphical text editors there were line editors before there were GUIs (graphical user interface) and everything was command line. Most gamers will tell you to use a text editor because there are many available I use Nano on my Ubuntu computers. ed is a line editor for UNIX. ED is the default editor for CP/M. There are many more and they all accomplish the same thing. So when you are told to use a text editor, just use the text editor of your choice that you are accustomed to. I work on a lot of servers and most servers are command line (pre graphical interface - you don't need a mouse). I'm not trying to be rude but most gamers have a basic knowledge of the operating system they use.
