[sims3] Sims disappeared after save as/save

Every time I save the game and launch the save in the main menu, one of my households (Teen) disappeared. If I save it with the teen being in navigate, the next time I launched the game would have bugged (no family members are able). If I save it with the other household (Adult), then the teen would be missing in the left navigation panel but in the friend list and is only able to text him. This happened either choosing to save or save as. If I use the backup, the teen will be back but this annoyed me since the backup is not exactly in sync with the time I saved.

FYI: I don't know if this help but this happened after the adult traveled back from the future. I am not sure if this triggered or just randomly happened.

Please help.🤐

  • @nthac  Here's a good guide to installing mods:

    https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

Since you're using mods, please add MasterController as well.  From now until your save is running properly again, delete the five cache files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 each time you quit the game.  For reference, these are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

Once you load your save, let the game clock run for a few sim-minutes.  Then click on City Hall and select NRaas > MasterController > Town Options > Reset Everything.  This may take a few minutes to run, depending on the speed of your hardware; it'll let you know when it's done.  Let the game clock run for a few more sim-minutes, use "Save as" to rename the save (so the original remains intact as a backup), quit, delete the cache files again, and reload.

If this doesn't work while your main household is active for one reason or another, you can try it with a different household active instead, then switch back after you've quit and reloaded.

  • @nthac  This is a sign of serious save corruption, and it's difficult to fully recover a save after this happens, unless you use the backup.  So even though you're going to lose some progress, it's still the best option overall.

If you'd still like to recover the current save version, or you want to try to prevent this in the future, you'd need to add some mods, specifically a few from NRaas (ErrorTrap and Overwatch to do some cleanup on their own, plus MasterController for a town reset).  Let me know whether you'd like to use mods and need help setting them up.

Yes. I have downloaded ErrorTrap and Overwatch after this but I only know adding them to the local the sims 3 file. Is this already the step or I have more to do with it? Please help me for setting up.

@puzzlezaddict It worked!! The sim returned after resetting the town. Although he returned with empty inventory, it is a big relieve to me. Thank you so much!
