Sims3pack files won't open and install through my launcher on my 2018 Macbook?
So I downloaded the Sims 3 onto my new 2018 Macbook Pro, I tested the game and everything and it was running really well so I thought i'd download some custom content into my game from TSR. The package files all show up in my game with no problem, but a lot of the custom content I downloaded is in the form of "Sims3Pack" files, which on my previous Windows laptop I would just double click on the file and it'd download straight through my launcher and show up in my game. If I try to open these files on my Mac, a little icon Sims 3 on my downbar shows up but nothing else. I tried clicking on the icon and nothing happened. I know there is probably a way to convert the Sims3Pack files into .Package files but i'm really just trying to find a quick fix so I don't need to go through all the trouble of downloading different programs, and so on. If you know any solutions it'd be greatly appreciated! 🙂
@novacanova The issue is probably that the OS doesn't "know" what app to use to open the Sims3Packs. But it's easy enough to get around that. Put one pack in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads, open the launcher, and see whether it shows up in the Downloads tab. If it does, install it, move some more packs over, install those, etc.
It's also a good idea to remove the packs from the Downloads folder once you've installed them, as the launcher can get bogged down trying to read too many files. You can always set aside the downloads for later use, just make sure they're elsewhere.
