Sism 3 starter pack

Having problem installing Sims 3 starter pack. I placed the CD on the CD drive and it loaded all that needed loading.  The Origin icon appeared on the screen.  I hit the icon and the origin login page appeared.  I tried creating an account but a message came back telling me "You must be online when loggin in for the first time."

I tried the internet to make sure that I was on line.  The Internet worked fine: I'm online, but when I try using the Login window, it gives me the same message as before.

P.S. I'm using Windows 7, and other than this issue, the computer always works fine.
