Sound Crackling on MacBook Air M1 chip

I discovered that when I play The Sims 3 on my MacBook Air with M1 chip the game makes crackling sounds. Same thing happened in The sims 4 and it has been patched so I hope somebody will fix it in The Sims 3.

  • I saw a fix on another forum on this site and it worked for me and other people too. Go to your Audio MIDI Setup. You can find it in your launchpad or in your utilities folder in applications. When there, under speakers there is a drop down menu. Change the format to 96,000Hz. After this, your game shouldn't crack anymore. 🙂

  • This Fixed it!! Would it make a Big Sur Bug? or just an M1 bug? Was it not 48K By Default on Intel macs on previous versions?

I did not have any issues with Sims 4 under the default configuration Perhaps i overlooked it as the crackling wasn't as bad.
