Store content uninstalls suddenly

I've played the sims 3 for many years now and I've always played it with downloaded content. All my downloaded content has now uninstalled and when I try to install it I get a message saying installation fail please update game. How is this fixed? Please help, I have spent so much time and money on the sims 3
@13freyja First of all, if you've installed Sims 3 through the EA App, do NOT run the Super Patcher. Best case scenario, it doesn't run; if it does run, it'll damage the install and probably require uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
Is the problem with Store content, or with third-party content too? Do you get the same error if you download a new copy of one of your items and try to install it? Please test if you haven't already, and delete the current copy of whatever item you're testing in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads, so you know you're installing the new copy and not the old one.
And let me know what kind of install this is: EA App, disc, Steam, or something else.
