Stuck on connecting Sims 3 on Mac

@Syannaxx Thanks for letting me know, and yes, it sometimes seems like that's the only fix. You can try powercycling your router, which might help if the router is the problem but won't if the issue is with your ISP.
I have the same problem and even created a different Sims 3 account and tried to log in to no avail. I even reinstalled the game, countlessly restarted my computer, repaired the game, and deleted my save files, which didn't work either. The only thing that helped was playing offline which is fine with me because I rarely use the Sims 3 store so unless you do, I recommend just playing offline. But kudos to you @puzzlezaddict because the Maxis response wasn't as thorough or helpful as this thread.
@MadalynHatter It's too bad the feature isn't working properly, but at least playing offline isn't a big deal. You could try a different internet connection though.
