Supernatural crashes to desktop when in Life Mode

So hello~

I've had this problem ever since I bought supernatural, which was this summer, and I can't figure out what is going on. I'm not that much of a computer person so you'll have to bear with me when it comes to the techy stuff.

- I only have The Sims 3 base game and Supernatural expansion pack, both on CDs.

- My base game is at 15.0.135.018001 (I might as well add that I can't update to the newest patch, since the game then doesn't load past launcher. I get a black screen and then either have to reboot or my computer does it before me. So if I absolutely HAVE to update, it will have to be to one of the patches that don't crash me.)

- When I first run the Supernatural expansion pack, the game loaded up until the Moonlight Falls loading screen, when it was close to the end of loading, it crashed to desktop.

- Next time I run it, it worked well until around 20 minutes into the game in Life Mode. It works completely well in Create a Sim and build mode etc. The only problem is life mode.

- After that it begun crashing to desktop 1-5 minutes into gameplay in life mode.

- No CC or any modifications made to the game

- Tried deleting cache, not working.

Here's the DxDiag:

  • Your video driver is WAY out of date. It is known that while you computer meets the bare minimum (1 g of memory) your computer would in general run much better with more memory. There are a few issues. The video chip may not handle SUPER. Your computer has Windows XP. Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014. I'm guessing that computer is at least 6 years old and the technology is 2 generations out of date (at least) based on the fact your computer uses ddr memeory. I recommend updating the video driver.

I updated the driver to the newest version, I have to say it helped at first but after around 20 minutes in life mode, the game crashed again in the same way apart for the fact that it didn't go to desktop. The monitor turned black, then I saw the monitor settings box, like the one that shows which input is active and all. But it quickly disappeared and then I had to reboot my computer because nothing would work to get back to desktop.

I'm still not sure what causes this ☹️

Well I have found that my Graphic Card was not the case here, it runs smoothly with the one I have, however what the problem was was the RAM memory. I only had 1GB but didn't seem to notice that that is the absolute minimum for Sims 3. Basically I bought another 2GB and now I have 3GB and everything is fine, no crashes, no problems with expansion packs. I even have loads of CC's and it's not a bother.

Thank you for the suggestions though.
