teenage sim got scolded for going to school!

My teenage sim's mother went on a free 2 day vacation. She stayed home and didn't throw any parties and mom had left the house dirty in her room and scolded the daughter for not cleaning it up when mom's room is locked. So, teenage sim got grounded and was sneaking to the bus and seen mom in front yard and wouldn't go to school. I had to use the cheat code to teleport her to the school, so she wouldn't lose her honor-roll status. When she came home from school, mom put her in time out! FOR GOING TO SCHOOL!!!! Can someone please fix this?! If the teenager is grounded, going to school shouldn't be grounds for being put in time out!
