The New Game/Select Game screen is almost completely blank

Hi,

I've been having an issue with The Sims 3, which started a few days ago.

For some reason, the screen where you select which game you're going to play is blank. At the top it says 'new game', and my previously saved families aren't there. It won't let me log in to The Sims 3, and all the menu options are blank. (I've posted a link to the picture below since it's kinda hard to explain)

When I click on anything, nothing happens, it's like it doesn't recognise that I've clicked at all. To quit this screen, I have to use the task manager and force it to close.

I'm using Windows 8.1.

I've tried restarting my computer, restarting the game, and deleting my most recent custom content (though I don't think that was causing any problems).

I apologize if this has already been asked before by someone else, but I've looked through a lot of Sims threads and couldn't find anyone else with this issue.

    Thanks, tried that, turns out the problem was with my Legacy family D:

    I've just emptied my saves folder and I'm going to start fresh, I think - I also removed some bad CC which may have caused problems.

    Thanks for your answer! I followed the instructions and found out the problem was with my saves folder.

    Does this mean my save files are corrupted?

    Still unable to play the game, unfortunatley ☹️

    So even without the saves you can't start a new game ?

    It could be just one savegame. try to put those back one by one.
