The Sims 3 doesn't seem to work after new update and installation of Supernatural. Please help!

I recently got The Sims 3 Supernatural for the holidays and before I installed the game I had to install the update like everyone else, but during the updating process i noticed that it stopped three times throughout updating telling me about an error. I had tried to retry it the first time and then two times after that I pressed the ignore button to ignore it. During installation of The Sims 3 Supernatural no errors popped up so I thought it would work okay, but it turns out that every time I tried to start the game it wouldnt start and it would tell me that The Sims 3 has stopped working. I have no idea why this is happening and I would really like help, please. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled and it still does not seem to work. If you can, please tell me why this happens.. Thanks very much 🙂 By the way, I've never had any problems with The Sims 3 before if that helps anything ( I don't think it will but I'm telling you anyway) Thanks 

update: I just bought The Sims 3 Seasons and it still does the same thing even after uninstalling everything besides the actual Sims 3 game itself so now  I have no expansion packs except Seasons on my laptop...
