The Sims 3 Generations

I'm having some problems with the Sims 3 Generations.  I own most but not all of the Sims 3 expansion packs.  I was bought the Generations expansion pack recently and despite having the more up to date expansion packs  of  the Seasons and having downloaded and patched up my game as per the update system in the start up, I'm finding I have some errors occurring since loading Generations. 

Firstly, my sims seem to corrupt and cannot gain skill levels.  This is the most annoying thing since my sims never get anywhere as a result.

Secondly, my child sims walk through walls when climbing into and out of the bunk beds.

Thirdly, my toddlers sit at the top of the stairs while the adult sim goes down (this happens when instructed to pick the toddler sim up).  The adult then freezes mid stride at the bottom.

I had assumed that I would not have these errors as they have been patched in earlier patches and all my patches are up to date.  I can't find where the patches are as it tells me to go through the game.  What can I do?
