It doesn't require a disc when you buy the download version. It's SecuROM.
Did you have the disc version installed before ? Do you just have the base game or any expansions as well ?
I bought the game on Steam shop. Game when I first start to register my EA account and immediately appeared in my Origin tab of the "My Games". Steam announced before installing a warning that the game includes SecuROM. When I uninstalled the game from STEAM and let you download it through Origin, so for me, now requires the game disc. CD-Key game is still the same. Why Steam recognizes digital version of the game, and Origin is not it?
