The Sims 3 Registration Code not working

Purchased a digital copy of The Sims 3 recently and redeemed the code through origin.

The game downloaded and patched fine but then when I went to play I received a screen telling me to re-enter my code.

I tired entering the code in a number of different ways (with/without hyphens, similar letter replacement) but nothing has worked.

What do I need to do to fix this?

    If you already have an Origin account and bought The Sims 3 or any of its Expansions or Stuff Packs through Origin, you do not need to create an account on the Sims 3 website. Just log in with your Origin account and you should be able to see your products on your "My Page" website.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I didn't buy The Sims 3 through Origin but I did redeem the product code through Origin.

    I've followed the steps on the site and in that link. 

    When I tried to log in it said I needed to register. So I registered using my existing persona (zimbler). I then tried to register the game using the same code as I did with origin and I am being told it is invalid.

    Would like to be able to play the game that I purcashed...... any more help on debugging the issue?
