The Sims 3 Seasons won't install - it says install Sims 3 first

I had to uninstall the Sims 3 and Seasons because it just randomly started getting really slow during game play (worked fine but one day just ended up slowing). I’ve just reinstalled the Sims 3 and ...

    Did you buy the base game before or after September 2012 ? Wonder if it has something to do with the Origin requirement. Did you have to make an account on installing the base game ?

    (and yes, I have no clue what's wrong and am just fishing in the dark)
