@quil12 - Please if you could share some specs on this laptop -- processor, RAM, graphics card, hard drive (size and space free). If you prefer, you could run a full dxdiag report on this computer, send the results up to
Pastebin (the free version is fine), and provide a link here breaking it up with some spaces or something like pastebin(dot)com/codes so we can read it. We may well end up needing to see this report anyway to see what's going wrong.

If you still have compatibility settings in place, please remove them. Those are not necessary and often do more harm than good.
