Time Machine?

Does the time machine invention mess up the game?

Does it bug out? Besides the sim getting spat back out, like I see people say on a googly search.

Is it worth the +575 happiness points from fulfilling the wish of 'Travel to the Past' with it? Or 'Travel to the Future'?

I have also not used the portal that came with Into the Future yet. Does the time machine invention interfere with the Into the Future portal, or vice versa?

Also: regarding the harvester invention. My sim gets stuck with it in their inventory after using it, and can only pull it back out after them being reset. Half the time she gets the spinning out of control outcome with a complete Fun depletion and dizzy moodlet and vomiting in the toilet after. My other sim, half the time he gets reset by Error Trap before he's finished using it. Is this a 'failure' invention, and so then if he builds more of them, they will fail less?

Thanks.

I didn't wait for a reply :(

He came back with a child. Some story popped up about him advising an arguing couple to be kind, or enjoy or something. This is the child:

He was still in the time machine for another minute, real life time, or so. I suspected the child might be someone in the family younger, a grandma or I don't know because I read on the googly some people say about a grand someone relative. I checked her relationships panel and the current Mrs my-sim is her step-mother and the current child is her half-brother. So I suppose the mother is an ex-girlfriend or acquaintance from his past. Dardanus is my sim, Helen is his wife and Homer is their child. So this child who came through the time machine, the game named 'Hilda', I suppose it combined what I named my sims in a guess.

Is she really genetically his? Will she grow up looking like him? Who was her mother? Anyone interesting, or does the game choose a generic plain-face townie? And will this child end up being buggy? Or cause trouble in the game, or glitches? Her personality seems to be ok, and her favourite dish is something the step-mother has made a lot of, french toast. Will she end up looking a bit like the step-mother? Is she of the step-mother but being from the past is considered a step-child in some weird way?

I've made a new series of saves with Saver just in case its trouble so I can go back to before he did the time travel. I wasn't keen on having another sim in the house yet. The current child is nearly old enough to have his teen birthday, the child phase is nearly complete, over, done, and now this sim-child adds it all over again. Maybe she can go to boarding school.  Is that mean or bad karma, a moral dilemma?

Here she is closer up

Gotta say, the clothes and hair aren't terrible.

Dardanus finally came out of the time machine ... after he'd had a couple more adventures in the pop-ups first though ... His last name is Atreus, the House of Atreus .... Ha! So maybe she does look like him. I hope she doesn't grow up plain like the townies. She went to play soccer that her half-brother Homer won at the Summer festival with his tix.

He was making potions for Logic when this all happened, and it probably triggered the singed scenario for him, seems like it.

Here's their humble house, which only has one child bedroom, which will soon be a teen bedroom, so now I'll have to add on a bedroom and probably another bathroom, ugh! I didn't want to make extensions yet, and actually I wanted to wait until the next generation and move to a bigger lot and house. Now that's been interrupted.

Its the house next to the small square bluish starter house. It was a starter house itself, with the description of a nursery ready to start a new family right away. And its opposite the Alvi's and corner-opposite the Sekemoto's. Its not all that great. Bit of a jumble. But still, a bother to muck around with a new room or two.

Why didn't I wait for a reply eh. I should be studying anyway.

Thanks.

  • The time travel machine from Ambitions has not caused any issues for me, and I am not aware of any known serious issues that other simmers have experienced. I think traveling to the future has few game/household changes than traveling to the past does, so maybe stick to just the future if you're worried. According to the sims 3 wiki, the new child that you posted about is the genetic child of only the sim who used the time machine.

I don't have Into The Future so can't really comment on it
