Sounds like you're having several different issues. First off I would suggest uninstalling Origin and redownloading it from origin.com/download . When I was having the can't connect to EA Download Manager error a fresh install of the latest Origin cleared it right up. Also you could download and run the patch from http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/175477.page once you have the newest Origin just to make sure you have the latest sims 3 as well. As for the issue on the website, are you using Internet Explorer? A lot of websites have stopped supporting IE so you might want to try it again in Firefox or Chrome. Let me know if this works!
