what kind of anti virus are you using?
DEP is not recommended anymore as that issue was fixed in a past patch
I should have listed that....
MS Security Essentials. I have tried turning off real-time protection.
I also have Comodo Firewall, which I have also turned off....
Follow rums instructions above abut DEP see if that works. Your computer shoud more than play the game and I have one similar only with Nvidia and I dont have the issue you are having with the 1.67 patch. The only other thing I can think of the base game needs to be patched to 1.67 before adding eps. Your also using disc and since they added origin the disc have issues and its better to play with your download versions which you get free if you registered your discs. Im playing all downloads and not having issue. And windows 7 is supported so you should not have to run in compatibility mode. Im on windows 8 and dont have to run in compatibiltiy mode.
with your anti virus Just making sure you dont have bitdefender. Bitdefender and this game do not mix
Forgot to ask since you mentioned Steam are your sims games from Steam or EA/Origin?
